Former Kosovo President Hashim Thaci has said his word during the hearing for the new indictment by the Special linked to “claims for illegal efforts to influence witness evidence in the trial of war crimes Thaci and others”.
He said that he poses no obstacle or danger to anyone.
At the hearing on the performance of the case for obstruction of justice, Thaci has said that both the war crimes indictment and this were hastily filed by the Specialised Prosecutor's Office, near the TSF.
The lawyer said it before I'm declared, I want to add something. In this early phase of this procedure for the success of the constitutional and legal order that must take place, you know that four years ago in November 2020, an indictment was filed against me just three months before I was re-elected president I country now 10 days ago, the prosecutor's office hastily filed additional charges two months before the elections in Kosovo. I mean, I'm not part of the political race, and I don't have any political ambitions either for president or for prime minister or any other political position.
I am neither a barrier nor a threat to anyone in a political sense nor a governing project. All my life I have worked for the freedom and state of Kosovo with the vision for membership in NATO, the EU and the special report with the US”, Thaci said.
The new Act on Thaci and others comes a day after the Specialised Prosecutor's Office announced Thursday that it was conducting continued operations in Kosovo regarding investigations it is conducting for criminal acts against obstruction of justice.
In the new indictment, Thaci is charged with three counts of attempted obstruction of official persons in carrying out official duties, by participating in the joint action of a group; four counts of violations of the secret of the procedure, and four counts of disobedience to the tribunal.
