(2 years ago)It has been a week since the Special Court has confirmed a new indictment against former Kosovo President Hashim Thaci, as well as against four others for criminal acts linked to <x0).
Thus, Hashim Thaci, along with the Smajan Union, Fadil Fazliu, Isni Kiljan, and Hajredin Kuchin, make up the largest group of joint indictees to whom the hearings begin within two weeks of the establishment of the charge.
The Hague's Specialised Chambers have announced that a Conference on Progress of the Case will be held on Tuesday in Thaci's case, Smajt, Kilajt, Fazliu and Kuci, which is expected to begin at 2: 00 p.m.
During the following days, pleas left pending by Thaci and Smaj are expected to take place.
We remember that Smaj, Fazliu and Kilaj were arrested on December 5th in Kosovo and sent to the detention building of Specialised Chambers in The Hague a day later, the court said.
The court had announced that Hajredin Kuci was handed over to the confirmed indictment and the call to appear before the court of preliminary procedure, under the confirmed indictment.
Thaci ić, who is being tried by this court in a case divided against former KLA war crimes and crimes against humanity, has been charged with co-ordinating “separate groups” along with Smajan, Cicin, Kucin and Fazliu to influence evidence of prosecution witnesses in his case and others for war crimes.
