The Democratic Party of Kosovo has gathered the Steering Council today, where it has been discussed preparing for national elections and recent political developments in the country.
Chairman The PDK, Memli Krasniqi, has said that general elections on February 9th are a determining moment for Kosovo and an opportunity to choose a future with hopefuls.
”Benderi Hamza is the best prime minister Kosovo can have today. His leadership will bring about the competence and clarity Kosovo desperately needs today. I'm inspired by the great support we've received from citizens, both inside and outside the country in our exile, during these months. This support is a testimony to the confidence that the people of Kosovo are returning to our party, our programme and our” values.
He has called on all PDK members and supporters to mobilise and work hard for victory.
The Kosovo Democratic Party remains united in its mission to build a more developed, safer and better Kosovo. We are a party of ideas and action, vision and dedication. We are the party that believes in the power of people, the strength of democracy and the promise of a better future. As we grow and develop, let us courageously do so in our hearts and resolve our actions because the best days of our country are ahead of us”.
The Krasniqi has raised concerns about the challenges Kosovo has faced as ill-governance, violation of state security, breaking up reports with the country's strategic partners.
”Mbi all, 2 months from today, we have national elections, the first after the full four years of an incompetent government. Hence, more than a routine meeting today, we are at a crucial meeting that must serve as a proclamation of our steadfast devotion to mobilization and victory. The recent terrorist attack on our country's critical infrastructure in Iber-Lepenc has shocked our state. The PDK requires a thorough and comprehensive investigation into this criminal and terrorist act. Justice must be established quickly, firmly, and without compromise. We call once again on the international community to stay close to Kosovo and to react decisively to Serbia's continued hostile actions”.
Likewise, Chairman Krasniqi has also raised concerns about recent developments in The Hague, where the Special Prosecutor's Office has announced that President Hashim Thaci has been added to an indictment for allegedly obstructing justice, while he has already been in custody for four years.
The liberation fight of our people was fair, noble and rooted in universal right to freedom and dignity. Any attempt to bring this truth another way is at risk of undermining not only the legitimacy of justice but also violating the heritage of a holy war for freedom. We appeal that the Specialised Chambers act with maximum responsibility! Their decisions should be based solely on facts and legal principles. Justice should never, ever, be used as a tool to rewrite history or to counter the sacrifices of those who fought for Kosovo freedom”.
