Five of the 65 immigrants who arrived on the small island, El Hierro, on open boats during the night, were found dead, emergency services said.
Another immigrant was found dead on one of three other boats that were rescued from Spain's coastal guard.
For the second time, the number of immigrants going to the Canary Islands of Spain marked record growth in 2024.
The number of immigrants who disappear or die during the trip is increasing five times faster than the number who arrive alive, the latest data shows.
Sailing across the Atlantic is particularly dangerous, since the bad weather can easily sink the fragile boats and the goons that immigrants use most, reports the REL.
Some 20,000 irregular immigrants have reached El Hierro this year, according to the Red Cross.
