US Ambassador to Kosovo Jeff Havenier is closing his mandate in the country this month. In recent days, he has held farewell meetings and recent official activities in the post. Hovenier in these commitments left the message that the US would be committed to partnership with Kosovo and that she wants Kosovo to see progress.
The United States is committed to our partnership. We want to see Kosovo succeed and progress. When I think about what this country was like when I started working for it in the late 1990s, when I think about what it was like in the time of independence and when I think about what it is like now, there is no doubt about the progress and the capacity of the people of Kosovo, about their stability to realise their vision of a sovereign, independent, democratic, multiethnic, prosperous and successful (4)x1>, Hovenier said Friday after visiting former President Ibrahim Rugova's September.
For the latter, he said he was honoured for his <x0 final” as ambassador to Kosovo to do so by honouring his figure and insistence on human rights.
I do this in memory of President Rugova and what he stood for, his insistence on the rights of all Kosovo people, his insistence on a sovereign, democratic, multiethnic and prosperous state, his insistence on pursuing these goals in line with the highest values of the international community”.
He said that during his term “together we have strengthened the stable partnership between the people of the United States and the people of Kosovo”.
This December also marks the end of my service as the US ambassador to Kosovo. I want to thank the people of Kosovo for their friendship and hospitality. It has been an honor to serve in this role and contribute to the joint effort between the US and Kosovo to advance and consolidate a sovereign, democratic, multiethnic and prosperous Kosovo. I'm proud we've reached it together”
In his personal plan, he said he would always remember the July 4th celebration of 2024 in Kosovo “when we all refused to allow torrential rain to prevent us from celebrating and dancing together”.
Houvenier, saying Kosovo's progress was undisputed since independence, he also expressed optimism about the future.
“E leaves this task knowing that Kosovo's future is bright and I look forward to seeing what you people of Kosovo will achieve in 2025 and beyond”.
