Fighting corruption, the European Council: Kosovo with limited progress

Meanwhile, the fight against corruption and the protection of fundamental rights in the Council of Europe conclusions is specified as having limited “progress”.
The Council positively notes some advances in the fight against organised crime, especially through increased co-operation with Europol, while limited progress was achieved in the fight against corruption and protecting fundamental rights”, the EC conclusions say.
“Kosovo must continue its efforts to ensure accountability, independence, efficiency and integrity of the judicial system, to protect freedom of expression and to ensure that legislation in these areas fits fully with the EU acquis and European standards”, it says further,
The Council has also stressed that it is important to strengthen public administration.
The Council encourages Kosovo to make additional progress to effectively promote fundamental rights. In this direction, the Council welcomes implementation of the Constitutional Court's decision on the Decani Monastery. The Council positively notes that Kosovo created a central secretariat for fighting gender-based violence and appointed a national co-ordinator”, the conclusions reportedly.
