CEC to co-operate with four institutions to verify candidates for deputies

At midnight, the Central Election Commission has closed the deadline for political subjects to apply for certificate and to submit candidate lists to MPs. 25 political subjects and over 1280 candidates have applied to the CEC to participate in the February 9th elections.
CECA spokesman Valmir Elezi, in a proposal for Express, has said they will ask competent institutions to make the necessary verifications in terms of candidates.
“In order to implement 30 of Law No. 08/L-228 for the General Elections, the Central Election Commission will require competent institutions to make the verifications needed for the adaptability or capacity of candidates to certified for participation in the election. ”
He has said he has asked the Kosovo Judiciary Council to submit to them names that have been sentenced in the last three years with a formal form ruling to one or more years in effective prison.
“In this article, it is estimated that it cannot be certified as a candidate, a person who has been sentenced in the last three (3) with a firm form for criminal action, one or more years in effective prison, so in order to verify, we have asked the Kosovo Judiciary Council to send the names of people from the candidate list if they have been sentenced in the last three years with a court decision to cut for criminal acts, with one or more years of effective imprisonment. ”
CEC also has a request from the Election Panel for Anxiety and Parastres
“Also, this under specifys that the candidate cannot be certified a person who is an official of the Election Panel for Anxiety and Parastance; by the court's decision, including the PZAP decision, has been denied the right to be a candidate; has failed to pay the fine imposed by PZAP, or the CEC; or has failed to abide by any PZAP order. Therefore, we have asked PZAP to make verifications in relation to these legal restrictions. ”
Elez has added that the CEC will co-operate with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora and the Ministry of Internal Affairs to verify that MPs' candidates are not officials with specific status on the basis of the Law for Public Officials or Foreign Service Members and diplomatic representatives.
“Article 30 of the Law for General Elections predicts that the candidate cannot be a person who is functional with special status on the basis of the Law in force for public officials or member of the foreign service and diplomat representative. To do the necessary verifications of these legal restrictions, we will co-operate with the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora. ”
While the CEC itself will verify that candidates are not leaders or members of the CEC's Municipal Election Commission.
