Citizens outside Kosovo will be able to vote earlier than those inside after online registration. This way of voting is being organised for the first time in Kosovo.
Already over 100,000 registered voters have some ways they can vote, and depending on the way they have chosen, the voting period has been scheduled.
At the moment of the census, voters can be determined individually for the way they vote: (1) to vote physically in one of the diplomatic representatives of the Republic of Kosovo; (2) by sending the ballot via mail to the CEC mailbox in Kosovo; Or (3) send the ballot through mail to one of the mail boxes opened by the CEC outside Kosovo.
CEC spokesman Valmir Elezi has indicated the voting deadlines for three legally defined ways.
Voting on diplomatic representation for citizens who have chosen this way of voting will take place on February 8th 2025 -- that is, one day before election day in Kosovo. The vote starts at 7: 00 p.m. and closes at 7: 00 p.m., local time at the site. Counting these ballots takes place in Kosovo”, Elez said.
For the second way of voting via mail for voters who have registered to send the ballot package to the CEC post box, Elez has said it starts on January 9th and ends on February 8, 2025.
The voting period for Kosovo citizens who are registered to vote by sending the package with a ballot to the CEC mailbox in Kosovo begins on January 9th and ends on February 8, 2025. Under the Law for General Elections, the vote from this way of voting is accepted by the CEC until the next day of elections, provided it has the stamp of submission before election day”, Elez explained.
For the third and final way, which according to the CEC, is the way that there are mostly registered voters to send the package through the mail to one of the CEC's open mailboxes outside Kosovo, will begin on January 9th and ends on February 8, 2025.
Even the voting period for Kosovo citizens who are registered to vote by sending the package with a ballot card to one of the mail boxes opened by the CEC outside Kosovo begins on January 9th and ends on February 8, 2025. Under the Law for General Elections, votes from this way of voting are accepted by the teams that send the CEC, only those that have arrived in the mailbox, later until the closing hour of the deployments on the” diplomatic representative, Elez explained.
