Germany's ambassador to Kosovo, Jorn Rohde, has spoken about the first two weeks-long attack on the Iber-Lepenci water channel. For this attack, Prime Minister Albin Kurti and President Vjosa Osmani have accused Serbia.
Rohde has said that so far there is no clear information to confirm the author's identity, adding that investigations are continuing.
The high representative named this incident as terrorist, serious and now we are in the investigation phase. I don't think any such charges are needed. Let's let the investigation take its course. All the acters, as I said before, must refrain from accusations that could violate stability and cause fear in citizens. So far there was no clear information to verify the author's identity. Therefore, we must let the investigation continue”, Rohde has stated in a joint interview with France's Ambassador Olivier Gueraud at RTK2.
And Ambassador of the United States Jeffrey Havenier has declared this week that it is still very early for the United States of America to declare who is responsible for the attack on the Iber-Lepenci water channel.
Havenier said they still don't have the evidence, but he believes this evidence will be found.
The “depending on what we know about what happened, it's still very early and, as I said last week, that the United States is able to attribute responsibility, we need to have a very clear set of evidence. We think evidence will be found, but we don't have it yet. So the investigations are ongoing; the Kosovo authorities are being conducted”, Havenier stressed.
Rohde and Gueraud also talked about dialogue. According to Gueraud, dialogue is the only way to resolve problems and normalise relations. He said France and Germany's stance on dialogue is the same.
“Thank you for inviting us to present the views of our countries -- Germany and France -- which share the same tests when it comes to dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia. We are deeply convinced that dialogue has no alternative and that it is the only way to resolve problems and normalise relations. It is necessary for the citizens of Kosovo, but also of Serbia”.
The lack of results in dialogue shows how important it is to achieve a successful dialogue because it directly affects people's lives in Kosovo”, he stressed. /kp/
