According to this institution, complaints come mainly as a result of “miscommunication between police officials and citizens, which in some cases ends up using force”. Of these cases, the IPK has recommended the suspension of about 85 police officials.

This year, The IKP has accepted about 1,900 complaints about police work, says of KosovaPress, the head head of this institution, Kufrim Hodaj. So far, since January, we've received about 1,900 complaints and we're on the trend that maybe by the end of the year will exceed the 2 thousand citizens' complaints to police on various issues and aspects that they think their rights were violated or violated by police officials”, he says.

During 2024, The IPK has recommended the suspension of 85 police officials, while another 21 have been arrested.

During this period, 83 criminal charges have been filed.

“We have recommended the suspension of about 85 police officials in various cases, which we have conducted criminal investigations, 21 police officials and several citizens who have been in joint cases of suspects with police officials have been arrested. We have set up 83 criminal charges, dozens of separate reports and information reports we have submitted to competent prosecutors”, the IPK chief points out.

Pristina's regime remains the biggest front-runner of complaints, according to Hodaj.

For lowering cases of incidents, Hodaj says criteria must be increased in basic training and then receertification every year.

The chief chief of the Kosovo Police Inspectorate said the police have recommended increased capacity in a way that “reduce the response time from the moment of announcement in any case”.
