“Elise is a strong and wise fighter of America before”, Trump said through a statement on November 11th.
Stefanic, 40, is one of Trump's most loyal allies in the House of Representatives and was one of the names that had been discussed as a candidate for vice president.
Born and raised in New York, Stefanic graduated from Harvard and worked at the White House when the president was Republican, George W. Bush. In Bush's administration she had worked on the Council for Internal Policy and was chief of staff.
In 2014, as 30-year-old she became the youngest woman ever chosen in Congress, representing New York. Later, she became the youngest woman in the House of Representatives leadership.
Earlier, Stefanic was known as a more moderate conservative. But then she approached Trump.
For years she has positioned herself as one of Trump's most loyal allies in Congress. She supported him for the 2024 presidential race, even before Trump began the campaign.
It has defended the president-elect during the dismissal trial, as well as rejected criminal indictments against him.
