While security measures against former President Ilir Meta are expected today, he has posted on social networks protection before the Court of Appeals against Corruption and Organised Crime. Freedom Party leader rejects the accusations and says this is a scandalous investigation, according to him, “sponsored by the Government and McGonigals”.
He refutes the charges on the Cez Dia case and says the “government-elect and SPAK shortlist to record this issue deceives, or the witness selected by the Government and SPAK to slander my person is”.
According to Meta, they lie mainly both from beginning to end for the political purposes of their own regime and economics.
Regarding claims of default, Meta considers them completely biased and oversteps the responsibility of the Lord.
For one thing, I can't take responsibility for any expense or reduction in accounts of my family or even my ex-wife and ex-wife. Second, as I explained in the SPAK with the completion of the property forms, my ex-wife, who followed them with a lawyer and with a note of all the actions, even because most of the assets and therefore the bank accounts were hers and she followed them”.
While for lobbies Meta claims it distances “with disgust from the deliberate efforts of the SPAK, without any evidence, to get me involved through speculation when it has all been time to present evidence that charges me with criminal responsibility. Criminal responsibility is individual”.
Meta requires that this <x0] pre-trial behavior (from SPAK and Police) must end and this investigation process and judgment should be placed on the track of the regular legal process in respect of the principle of presumption of innocence”.
It recently demands that, with today's ruling, the Constitution, the European Convention of Human Rights, the principle of presumption of innocence, and a regular legal process for the future.
I have no position, I have no opportunity to break evidence, because there's no evidence but interviews and speculation. I can't even imagine running away, and if there is this disturbance you can decide to block my passport. But I am a former president, enjoying this status even legally and president of the second opposition party in the country and the third party of 20 years.
So you have to allow me on the basis of American experience to exercise my obligations to those citizens who have chosen me to run and who pay taxes for you to give justice and not close enough to be under the SPAK dictatorship, as Mr.Duman.
Any decision under dictates would not only burden the irregularities of this process, but undermine the principles of the rule of law”.
Freedom Party President Ilir Meta was arrested on the order of the SPAK on 21 October near Casa Italy in the capital. He is accused of corruption, money laundering and refusing to declare property.
