Hospital officials in the northern part of Gaza say many people have been killed by Israeli air strikes during the night last night.
The Gaza rescue teams say operations were launched early in the morning after Israel bombed at least five buildings in Bayt Lahia and Gaza City, television reports BBC.
Media linked to Hamas say dozens of people were killed and many others are still under ruins including women and children.
There was no immediate comment from the Israeli military, but it has recently added to the attacks in the northern part of Gaza, saying it is preventing the regroupment of Hamas.
Several parts of northern Gaza are under siege by Israeli forces and almost no humanitarian aid has been distributed in the past 40 days, the UN warned earlier.
Doctors in Gaza say they are having trouble treating the injured, while aid agencies say they cannot send basic supplies to the area.
Earlier this week, at least 34 people were killed by an Israeli air strike on a 5-story residential bloc in Bayt Lahia, according to a local civil defence agency.
