Deputy chairman of the Parliamentary Foreign Affairs Commission from PDK ranks Xhavit Haliti has blamed Prime Minister Kurti for bringing the country under EU measures that continue to be in force since June last year.
Haliti told Rtv21 that these measures will not be lifted until after the February 9th parliamentary elections, as he added, he expects no change in EU access with new appointments at the helm of institutions there.
“Because of the Government of Kosovo specifically, Albin Kurtit Kosova is in sanctions. Kosovo has lost many projects that were left unannounced in various municipalities for which the EU has donated donations... so we do not expect a change of approach to Kosovo, but I expect from new appointees in the EU a reinforcement of engagement compared to Borrell... The policy problem is whether or not they change, but they will be much more aggressive in terms of policies that Kosovo has to do. I do not expect the removal of measures to have positive approaches from individual states, but as far as the EU knows, it does remove measures before elections in Kosovo are conducted. After the elections, political formations in Kosovo will be seen the way we approach the Brussels agreement and then the process of lifting steps” can begin, Haliti said.
