The development comes after media reports of a document naming charges against Khan, including unwanted threats and ʹabutions of sexual nature, the BBC Network writes.
The document states that Mr. Khan “had previously been called for investigations concerning the” case.
I welcome the opportunity to get involved in the process, as I continue my functions as chief prosecutor”, he said in a proposal.
Officials said the investigation issues would be managed by Deputy Prosecutors “to ensure respect for the rights of persons involved”.
The development comes amid increased attention to the Court and Mr. Khan as the latter has issued charges and suggestions for warrants for persons related to the Gaza conflict.
In May Khan said there was credible reason that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, his defence minister Yoav Gallant, the leaders of Hamas, Yahija Sinwar, Mohammed Deif and Ismail Haniyeh could be responsible for crimes against humanity from the day of Hamas' attack on October 7th, and later.
Now Sinwar, Deif and Haneyeh have all been killed by Israel.
Earlier Khan did not exactly blame Israel but drew parallels amid attempts at discrediting him and Israel, saying that “is a moment when the International Court is the target of a wide number of attacks and threats”.
The initial reporting by The Guardian was about a female lawyer who had become the object of unwanted sexual advances by Khan, who cast doubt on the competencies of the Independent Court Supervisory.
The network reported and complaints of Khan's unwanted behaviour by another colleague, even though he was advised to avoid contact with her.
Paivi Kaukoranta, chief of the tribunal's surveillance group, said last month that officials have contacted the victim, but did not say what point were the investigations.
Yesterday she defended the group's capacity for investigations, but said that under certain circumstances “did not oppose internal investigations.
Currently a three-judge panel is considering the arrest mandate request against Khan, writes British network BBC.
In 2023, he issued an international warrant against Russian President Vladimir Putin.
