Denmark is watching the Chinese ship suspected of sabotage in Baltic

Denmark's defence command said it is “present” in the area near the Chinese cargo ship Yi hostage 3, which was docked near the coast of Denmark. This ship was allegedly involved in the recent damage to fiber optic communication cables in the Baltic Sea. Doubts have been increased by Western capitals [...]
Doubts have been raised by Western chiefs, who say the damage to two key cables in the Baltic Sea was likely the result of deliberate actions.
The Chinese ship, reportedly directed by a Russian naval officer, was sailing from the Russian port of Ust-Luga. The ship allegedly traveled over the Baltic area, where cables linking Sweden and Lithuania were found.
European governments and Washington have not directly linked Moscow to this damage, but they have accused Russia of orchestrating “hybrid attacks on Western infrastructure to punish European states for the assistance and support they offer to the Ukrainian Army, which is struggling with Russian invading forces.
Some analysts said the ship may have damaged cables when it was docking.
“Danish Defense can confirm that we are present in the area near the Chinese ship, Yi hostage 3”, said Denmark's Defence Command through an X post.
Ukraine's allies in past incidents had charged Moscow with sabotage, separately after Russia began the invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
Authorities of the Baltic states are investigating the removal of cables, the second cable connects Finland and Germany, following similar incidents that have occurred at sea in recent years. /rel
