CEC with next meeting, Postbox opening proposed for voting abroad

Among the many agenda points mainly related to preparations for organising these elections is the “proposal for opening mail boxes outside Kosovo”.

According to the CEC, the other points of the agenda are the review and adoption of nominations for the appointment of two KKZ members in the Partesh municipality for the Kosovo Republic's Assembly February 9th 2025.

Then, the review and adoption of the replacement and appointment of the KKZ member in the Lipjan municipality for the Parliament of the Republic of Kosovo 9 February 2025 Assembly, review and adopt the technical training specifications for Kosovo's 2025 Parliamentary Elections and the local elections, review and approval of technical badges for voting process for the Kosovo Assembly 2025 elections, and the 2025 local elections.

Warning from the CEC's 61st meeting: Opening mailboxes outside Kosovo Pristina, November 14th, 2024 The Central Election Commission held its 61st meeting in 2024, led by CEC leader Kreshnik Radoniqi.

At this meeting, the CEC approved the proposal to open mailboxes for the voting process outside Kosovo. In order to provide voting opportunities for citizens who register successfully and choose the way they vote by sending the ballot to the mailbox outside Kosovo, The CEC will ask the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora to open a mailbox in these countries: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Czechia, Denmark, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Hungary, Italy, Canada, Croatia, Montenegro, northern Macedonia, Norway, the US, Albania, Slovenia, Sweden, Turkey, the United Kingdom and Switzerland.

According to Law No. 08/L-288 for the General Elections, during the period of application to register as voters outside Kosovo, voters can vote individually for voting:

1. Vote physically in one of the diplomatic representatives of the Republic of Kosovo;
2. sending texting via mail to the CEC mailbox in Kosovo;
3. sending the ballot via mail to one of the mail boxes opened by the CEC outside Kosovo. Therefore, the CEC meeting decision is directly linked to the voting approach according to point 3, for which citizens outside Kosovo are designated at the moment of registration: Posting paper to one of the mail boxes opened by the CEC outside Kosovo. Following the meeting, The CEC also made several decisions under preparations for organising the Kosovo Assembly elections, which will be held on February 9th 2025, as they are: • A decision to adopt the nominations for naming two members at the Municipal Election Commission in the municipality of Partesh; • A decision to approve the replacement and appointment of member of the Municipal Election Commission in the municipality of Lipjan; • Decision for adopting technical specifications for election training for the Kosovo Assembly, February 9, 2025 and Local Elections 2025; • Decisions for adopting technical specifications for printing of election badges for the Assembly, February 9, 2025, and local elections 2025.
