Albania's Prime Minister Edi Rama has attended his tour with the diaspora today, meeting with Albanians in Thessaloniki, Greece, in a packed hall in Porto Palace.
During his speech, Rama stressed the importance of the upcoming 2025 elections and called for the support of Albanians living abroad to realise Albania's goal of becoming full-fledged members of the European Union within this decade.
“Today you are voters who will for the first time participate in Albania's elections, enjoying the right to vote where you are, from your home,” said Rama.
He added that in the coming spring he would seek their vote from Greece, with the goal of Albania's 2030 to be a full member of the EU.
The prime minister stressed that realising this goal will enable the country to benefit from all the benefits of being part of the European Union family.
“To give Albania the same opportunity that you European Albanians have given your families,” said Rama, adding that it will work to raise the flag of Ismail Kemal and Skenderbe in Brussels, as a symbol of the achievements and unification of all Albanians, wherever they are located, within this major goal.
