Such a meeting is common between the outgoing president and the future president, and primarily aims to mark the beginning of the peaceful transition of power in line with American democracy.
But, Trump, then president, had not welcomed Biden at such a meeting after the 2020 elections, when Trump lost in an attempt to re-elected.
Trump, Republican, ran for president again four years later, and last Tuesday, he defeated Vice President Kamala Harris, the nominated candidate of the Democrats.
Trump is the first former president to return to power after Grover Cleveland, who won the 1892 elections to return to the White House.
The White House announced that Biden, the Democrat, phoned Trump last Wednesday to congratulate him on his victory and invited him to meet in the Oval Office.
During a speech Thursday, Beden said he has assured Trump that “will guide my entire administration to work with his team on passing power peacefully. This is what the American people deserve.
Asked on Saturday about Trump, Beden said that “would meet with Wednesday”. /Radio Free Europe/
