29 new HIV cases registered in Kosovo during 2024

Intechnologist Arbana Kasumi, in an interview for “Kosovaress”, has shown that unlike the year 2023, where 13 new cases were recorded, 29 registered this year.

“From 2005 to 2024 total are being treated 90 patients at the Infectious Clinic... In January 2023 to 30, there were a total of 13 new cases (with HIV). And in 2024, from January to half of November, 15 November are a total of new cases reported by 29 cases. In 2020 new cases have been only two, since in 2024 there are 29 new cases. Of them, 28 cases of therapy at the Infectious Clinic, one case is that he has not continued his treatment. In reality, age is adults (new age), we are not of another age. The oldest age could be 67 years old. But we've been young for 12 years, I'm assuming she showed up to us, but now she's grown up. He's 18 years old, 19 and so on,”, Kasumi says.

Kasumi shows that currently in this clinic a patient in the most serious condition of this virus, with AIDS.

“Yes, there is a patient with AIDS, which is a more serious condition, is being treated at the Infectious Clinic... the patients who are confirmed, come from the National Institute of Public Health that are positive tests, are shown at the Infectious Clinic, receive blood tests, and then if their general state is good, we put in therapy and release them in a way that they come in, checks like you're assigned, but don't stay hospitalised in our clinic. The cases that have deteriorated, we observe them until their situation improves”, she points.

The infection at the Infectious Clinic, Arabna Kasumi, shows that during this year, there are two cases of female gender affected by this infection, unlike last year, that number was zero.
