Osmani at a meeting with Slovenia's president: Bilateral recognition with Serbia, only road to long-term peace and stability

The presidency said Osmani praised the partnership between the two countries “, stressing that Kosovo continues to be grateful for Slovenia's active role in supporting Kosovo's European future”.

“In this context, President Osmani laid out the need to further Slovenian support and pointed out that Kosovo's state and strategic goal remains EU and NATO membership, but other international organisations that will advance the interests of Kosovo citizens”, the Presidency reported.

Osmani and Pirc Musar also discussed current developments in Kosovo and the region. According to the president of Kosovo, “close co-operation between the two countries is in operation in preserving regional peace and stability, since Slovenia is an example for the implementation of reforms needed for membership in Euro-Atlantic structures”.

“Reporting with dialogue with Serbia and extending the situation to the country's north, President Osmani has stressed that Kosovo has made sweeping steps in this direction and will have a constructive attitude in the entire process of dialogue. She added, however, that the only way for long-term peace and stability is when the final result of dialogue with Serbia is mutual recognition and preservation of the territorial integrity, sovereignty, constitutional order and institutional functionality of the Republic of Kosovo”, the Presidency's announcement said.

The commitment to continue “deepening friendly relations and close co-operation between Kosovo and Slovenia” was confirmed at the meeting. The two heads of state, according to the Presidency, also discussed a wide range of topics, including increased co-operation in the field of economy, empowering women and young people, green agenda, etc.
