Tens of protesters and police officers were injured during street clashes in Tel Aviv on Saturday, including Eritreas living in Israel, who support and oppose the country's government regime in East Africa.
At least 30 officers were among those injured during the confrontations between police and hundreds of asylum seekers from Eritrea, Israel's emergency medical services reported, Upi broadcast Klankosova.tv.
Of 157 injuries, at least 13 were considered serious, including several gunshot wounds.
Israeli police confirmed that at least 39 arrests were made Saturday.
The Tel Aviv Medical Centre was declared to have suffered many injuries, but officials have not confirmed any deaths from the event in the city with a population of about 500,000.
More than 25,000 refugees from Eritrea currently live in Israel, according to the international aid organisation A. SSAF.
