The first is the annual open debate on labour methods, which will be held below the agenda of “Rat implementation by Security Council President (S/2017/507)”.
Ambassador Ferit Hoxha, Albania's Permanent Representative to the UN and Head of the Informal Work Group for Documentation and Other Procedure Issues (IWG), is expected to be the rapporteur.
The second meeting is an open debate on “Progress of the Public Humanitarian Partnership-Privat”.
He is expected to focus on how to better co-ordinate the efforts of member states, the private sector, philanthropists and other humanitarian actors in response to humanitarian crises.
Albanian Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Olta Gacka will lead the meeting.
The expected guests are Cindy H. McCain, Executive Director of the World Food Programme (WFP), Eric Schmidt, co-founder of Schmidt Futurres) a philanthropic enterprise that finances scientific and technological research, Michael Miebach, CEO of the Mastercard payment processing corporation, and a civil society representative.
The third event is an open debate on “supporting the goals and principles of the UN Charter through effective multi-lateralism: Preservation of Ukraine's peace and security, writes AP”.
Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama is expected to lead the meeting, which will be held in the high-level segment of the UN General Assembly.
In September, the Security Council will also hold a conference on peacekeeping reform in line with Resolution 2378 of September 20th 2017.
Undersecretary General for Peace Operations Jean-Pierre Lacroix is expected to be the informant on the issue.
Council members are also expected to hold an interactive IT dialogue with the General Secretary of the League of Arab States (LAS), Ahmed Aboul Gheit and members of the Arab Summit Troika.
The latter is a group of three rotating countries monitoring implementation of resolutions and commitments adopted by the LAS, which consists of leaders of the outgoing, current and incoming Arab Summit (Algeria, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain).
