Abraham: Three northern municipalities have yet to make official request to join the Kosovo Communist Association

A month ago, the North Mitrovica municipality has become a member of the Kosovo Commission Association (AAK). The three municipal municipalities have voted in favour of joining these municipalities in the AKK, while the legality of these decisions in the Ministry of Management of Local Power is now expected to be considered.
The membership procedures have been discussed by AKK Executive Director Samantha Ibrahimi.
These municipal assembly decisions that have been made in the respective municipalities must go towards review of legitimacy at the Ministry of Management of Local Power. After reviewing the legality of those decisions, the mayors of those municipalities submit their formal application to the Kosovo Communist Association for membership, and then the Board makes the decision when the extraordinary Assembly must be called”, Ibrahimi said.
He has since indicated that he has not yet accepted official request from these three municipalities.
In the end, Ibrahim has added that the AKK is a volunteer organisation and that its mission is to protect the interest of municipalities towards the central level.
“The AKK has nothing to do with politics. So we are not political mechanisms and our mission is to protect the interest of municipalities towards the central level. The Communist Association is a nongovernmental organisation that protects the interests of municipalities. It is a voluntary organisation founded based on the European Charter on Local Self-Government, and every municipality in Kosovo has an interest in membership in AKK”, it has ended. /Telegrapher
