William Walker: Vuciqi should be in The Hague, not Hashim Thaci and others

Even the American diplomat is unusual for a democratic country to impose sanctions by the European Union and the United States of America.
I consider that punitive measures or sanctions, however you call them, are unfair to Kosovo. Punishment measures are imposed on those states that violate international laws, such as the case with Russia. It is not normal for the EU and the US to sanction a democratic country such as Kosovo. This is really something unusual”, Walker said.
Walker says pessimistic about the future of the dialogue process between Kosovo and Serbia.
According to him, the latter is not yet willing to change and recognise Kosovo's independence.
What dialogue are we talking about? Serbian state leaders have made it clear they will not recognise Kosovo's independence. How can you be optimistic about the future of dialogue when Serbia is not ready to change. Now look at what destructive approach Serbia has, while the West put pressure on the most democratic country in the region”, Walker said.
The retired American diplomat says some of the current decision-makers in Washington are very unaware of Kosovo's history, and for that, he is very concerned.
There are major geopolitical and US changes now see the Western Balkan region differently. Remember, 23 years have passed since the war ended in Kosovo. You should know that in American decision-making they are no longer the same people, and now I am very concerned about how uninformed some of them are about Kosovo's past. That's why I would suggest that they read more history”, he added.
Walker has a few words for current Serbian President Aleksandar Vuciq as well.
If we had a normal situation, today at the Hague dock it would have to be former propaganda minister in Milosevic's time, Aleksandar Vuciq, not Hashim Thaci, Rexhep Selimi, Jakup Krasniqi and Kadri Veseli. We all know what role Alexander Vuciqi played during the 1990s, and today imagine he is the president of Serbia and is most respected by international partners. Here you have only one example of how much the international community has changed in relation to Kosovo”, Walker said.
Otherwise, US emissary for the Western Balkans, Gabriel Escobar, has denied being harsh with Kosovo and soft with Serbia.
