Prime Minister Albin Kurti's cabinet has been frequented with resignations. Since the beginning of the government's mandate, Kurti 2, four ministers have resigned as many deputy ministers.
The most expressed resignations by Kurt's cabinet were recorded during the past week, where a minister and deputy minister asked Kurt to release him from office.
Days ago, the deputy minister of the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and innovation (MASHTI), Edona Maloku-Berdyna, has resigned. One resignation that made headlines in our country was that of Defence Minister Armend Mehaj. The media reported that Mehej's resignation had come as a result of many of his frustrations with Prime Minister Albin Kurti's policies and some disagreements that had led to physical clashes with his deputy minister, Shemsy Syla.
However, Mehej as Maloku-Berdynaj have said the reasons for his resignation are personal.
On August 08th, 2023, at my request, Prime Minister Albin Kurti has released me from the post of Minister of Defence of the Republic of Kosovo! This request from me has come for family reasons, which I have announced to Prime Minister Kurti long ago. He thanked me for my work, as well as all my joint commitments so far, during the 29 months I was in the office of Minister of Defence of the Republic of Kosovo”, has written Mehej on his profile in “Facebook” when he announced his resignation.
While now former Deputy Prime Minister Maloku-Brdynaj has said he will devote himself to academic life.
I announced that yesterday, July 31, 2023, I completed my journey as Deputy Minister for Education, Science, Technology and Innovation in the Government of Kosovo. Because of subjective causes, I have no chance of continuing my commitment to this task, and therefore, I have submitted my resignation to Prime Minister Kurti”, she has announced.
For publicist Halil Matoshi, these resignations would be completely normal in a democratic country. But Matoshi in a conversation with Periscope has said that in this case, resignations are prompted by the „etics of power“.
The noted analyst even says that the reasons presented to the Government are an excuse for authoritarian powers.
“The resignations should be normal from a democratic government, but these are driven by the ethics of power. But the government is presenting it mainly as a resignation for family reasons, which is an excuse for authoritarian powers to cover corruption and other nature scandals”, Matosi has said.
Another sensational resignation was that of British adviser to the Community Affairs Office, which functions within the framework of Kosovo Prime Minister Elizabeth Gowing's Cabinet.
Gowing had not mentioned personal reasons for his resignation, but that he had openly shown dissatisfaction.
The reason for the resignation was the separation of funds from the Government of Kosovo, where 90 percent of the means had gone to the media and NGOs from the Albanian community.
The first minister to resign at the Kurti II Government has been Health Minister Arben Vitita to join the Pristina chairmanial race in local elections.
His successor, also noted doctor Rifat Latifi, had left this post in October 2022, saying that the reasons are personal.
Kurt's cabinet had also left Local Power Management Minister Goran Rakic. After a few months, Nenad Rassic was named instead.
In addition to Deputy Minister Edona Maloku-Brdynaj, resignations from Kurti's cabinet have also given Deputy Ministry of Environment, Space Planning and Infrastructure Minister Linda Cavdarbasa. Deputy Justice Minister Nita Shala and Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Technology and innovation (MASHTI) Dukagjin Pupovci.
All had cited personal reasons for resignations. /Periscopi/
