Part of the blame for Frede Beler's imprisonment two days before voting for mayor of Himara, Fatos Lubonja also placed it on the Greek state, which today is in an effort to free the minority mayor.
But for Lubonja, Greeks are up too late, because as Albania's neighbours, they should be more informed of what is happening in our country, and as such, they could not support reform in justice with the same gullibility as other European countries.
Greece “has become partners together with other Western countries in installing an authoritarian regime from which not only the Greek minority suffers, but also all Albanians” writes Lubonja in his footnote that you can read full below:
Many Albanians suffering at the expense of new Albanian justice ask the question: how could Westerners treat us against their fundamental principles and values of the rule of law?
The question raised for the Greek state is: why should Greece, which as a neighbouring state with Albania, be much more informed, have waited for the case to raise its voice about the lack of rule of law in Albania, while until today, it has become partners together with other Western countries in installing an authoritarian regime that does not suffer only the Greek minority, but also all Albanians?”
