He claims that the calm situation in Kosovo's north has contributed to the recent arrests made in that part by Kosovo Police. Ibishi said Kosovo Police in co-operation with AKI and KSF have taken and are taking all measures for the situation to be calm and stable in the north.
“The situation is calm and stable in the north everything that comes to tension comes from the gang, the full impact of Belgrade's orders in this case, Serbian President Vuciq, who has his own illegal and extremist structures in the north. Therefore, Kosovo police in co-operation with other security institutions and AKI, but the KSF has taken all measures in order for the situation to be calm and stable, while also present in maintaining public order and calm, as well as border security, but also traffic”, he said.
Ibishi said he has recently visited northern Kosovo, and from what he has seen, police have done excellent work and continue to do in order and public calm.
I have had a chance to visit, and I am convinced that Kosovo Police have done excellent work and continue to do in order and quiet. While the procedural aspects to say about elections are a matter of both the president and the government to implement the right form in order for elections to go smoothly and democratic”, he said.
Ibishi added that police have an abundant capacity to maintain public order and calm even in the event of elections.
I think all the preconditions are referring to the current situation that we have no longer extremes as if we had before, so those violent ones were arrested after the cases we had, so the attacks on the Kosovo police, on journalists, on KFOR with serious consequences, and now the situation is still calm, and some of the extremists have realized the reality is no longer exposed, and I think that even at the time of elections, there will certainly be some areas, but at the time of the elections I think the situation will be stable and quiet. Of course we have in abundant capacity, that means apart from KFOR has another task. Police have ample capacity to maintain public order and calm even in the case of elections”, he told EO.
