Macedonian political factors view Kurti's presentation as nationalistic, during whose speech -- before thousands of supporters in Tetovo -- publicly displayed a “flag. Greater Albania”.
Meanwhile, the appointment of a street in the Cair municipality according to the Ademi Demaci event, in which Kurti participated, has also faced numerous dissatisfaction with Macedonians due to “changing appointments without a broad interethnic consensus”.
The route so far bore the name “The 2nd Macedonian assault brigade”.
President Stevo Pendarovski initially reacted through a Facebook text Sunday, labeling the rally in Tetovo as “a provocative nationalist iconography with chauvinist ideas that fuel ethnic hatred and stimulates failure to endure”.
He writes further that the basic principles of the Ohrid and Macedonian Agreement are thus attacked as a multiethnic state”.
Macedonian president calls for the review of rally organisers in Tetovo and Ciir for violations, as said by “legal definitions against the use of the state flag, anthem and community flags and symbols, with whom the state symbols have been completely ignored.”
Regarding the appointment of the “dem Demaci”, Pendarovski says that the way and realisation of the road conflicts with the principles of democratic debate and respect of the historical heritage of all communities within the state. He expects authorised sculptures to check whether the principle of double (qualified) majority that includes votes of non-communities is respected during making the decision to change the name of the road. In the municipality of Cair in Skopje, Albanians make up over 60 percent of the population.
Macedonian opposition led by VMRO- The DPMNE blames the government under the Social Democratic League (LSDM) for allowing Mr. Kurti's waiting arrangements, while also criticising President Pendarovski for the delayed response.
Hristija Mickovski, chairman of VMRO-DPMNE, writes on social networks that Prime Minister Dimitar Kovacevski has voted in a government session to change street names, while accusing him of treason against Macedonian interests and people.
Your act of partisanism and of your opposition servants does not favor you because there is no betrayal after which your signature” does not stand, writes Mickovski.
On the other hand, LSDM accuses VMRO of allowing street names to be changed by its informal partners. “Mickovski and DPMNE are the organisers of events in Skopje and Tetovo. Bilall Kasami became mayor in Tetovo with the support of (VMRO) The DPMNE, as their co-operation continues at the Municipal Council, Parliament and in other areas”, says an LSDM statement.
Kosovo's prime minister during his stay in Skopje and Tetovo did not meet with government officials, but was met by three leaders of Albanian opposition parties.
In Tetovo he spoke among other things about the importance of a road that would link Prizren and Tetovo by means of a tunnel on Mount Sharr.
Also, he stressed that North Macedonia must keep closer to Kosovo, Albania and Bulgaria, and as far away from Serbia as it can get closer to the EU.
During the inauguration of the “Adem Demaci”, Kurti said naming a road named by Demac is an act of persistence in the Albanian freedom effort, says VOA.
