As part of the initial events, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez received European Council President Charles Michel in Madrid on Sunday.
The two leaders discussed the key priorities of the presidency, which include re-industrisation, strategic autonomy, ecological transition, social and economic justice, and strengthening European unity.
Sanchez hosted Michel in La Moncloa Palace a day after his trip to Kiev, where he met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and reiterated his commitment to supporting the war-torn nation “as long as it should” and “irrespective of the price to be paid”. /Euronews
