The European Union's Emisari in the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, Miroslav Lajcak, has said he has met in Brussels today, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic.

Lajcak, through a Twitter post, has said that with the Serbian president, they have agreed on the importance of de-scaling the situation in northern Kosovo.

I had a useful meeting with Alexander Vuciq after today's meeting of the chief negotiators. We agreed on the importance of urgently taking steps to escalate the situation in northern Kosovo and make rapid progress in normalising relations”, Lajcak wrote.

While Vuciq has said Belgrade continues to insist on concrete steps to protect the lives of Serbs in Kosovo and implement the agreements reached.

“I have spoken with Lajcak about the latest round of technical talks between Belgrade and Pristina and ways to calm tensions on the ground. Serbia continues to insist on concrete steps to protect the lives of Serbs in Kosovo, as well as on implementing agreements reached so far”, he said on the social network.

The meeting between Lajcak and Vuciqi was held on the day the EU envoy for Kosovo-Serbia dialogue met in Brussels with the two countries' top negotiators: Faithful Bissim and Petar Petkov.

Talks were held on the level of key negotiators, but they ended without a direct meeting between Belgrade and Pristina delegations.
