KDS Company has confirmed that only yesterday and today along with K Company ESCO have imported around 1m euros in electricity.
Over the past few days, there has been a reduction in electricity production. This has resulted in a severe lack of electricity, since consumption is much higher than production, which is reaching over 850 megawatts per hour these days. This situation brings about the need for genetics between production and consumption to be covered by import. Currently, KEDS and KESCO are importing over 300 megavats per hour on time of dot. Total imports for today amounted to half a million euros, as it was yesterday. So, only yesterday and today, KEDS and KESCO together have imported about 1m euros of electricity at a price of over 150 euros for MUH”, KEDS spokesman Lulzim Krasniqi has announced about Periscope.
He said that in monetary terms, this amount would cost much more if it were last year's prices, but fortunately they are apparently lower than in July 2022, when they had reached the record level of up to 750 euros/ MWh.
“How the amount is extremely large when it is known that we are in summer time and usually in this period of year the need for import is minimal because consumption and local production are enough. But, unfortunately, these days the situation has changed and no demand from local production is being covered. This is also happening because of extreme temperatures that impose massive use of air conditioners for cooling”, Krasniqi added
It is learned that KEK today has interrupted the work of two blocks by sending them to the planned annual remont. /Periscopi/
