In recent measurements of the Balkan Barometry, 75 to 83 % of citizens, depending on the Balkan country, do not trust political parties at all.
One of the main reasons is the fact that they are seen as sources of corruption.
Organised “Corruption is not only benefit from public funds, but also schemes of how illegal financial benefits, questionable party financing are used for “the employment of attackers in social media” (rollers), for propaganda of false news/information, or to attack anyone who has a critical opinion of”, Majlinda Bregu, secretary of the Council for Regional Co-operation at the Cultural Development Forum in Tirana, has said.
“Paradox the time we live in? Everything seems to be even better than before. Digitalisation has changed the job market and the media for example, but along with it comes our delay to adjust to new jobs, or the risk of being thrown into deinformation. Is there a link between the fact that Political parties are the least trusted institutions for 75% of citizens in the region ( 83% in Albania) and the increase in dezinformation? Apparently, yes.”, Secretary Breath further said.
According to her, the culture of accountability and the fight against mismanagement, disinformation starts from the transparency of political parties' finances.
The “E when this happens, perhaps you can lower the high level of distrust citizens have against political parties, which is currently 75%, while unfortunately in Albania stands at 83%. Slanders kill young people's desire to get involved in politics. If politics should inspire and create models to follow, approach to insult, insult, cynicism, transgression or opponent, assault the unfaithful, lack of desire to solve conflicts, arouse hatred for the other, are self-destruct for anyone who is in politics aimed at just as much power for himself”, she has said.
