Despite the invitation they have received for the meeting in Brussels, Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti and Serbia's president, Aleksandar Vuciq have yet to confirm their participation.

The European Union in a communiqué for the media has said it expects the parties to participate in an unconditional meeting, meanwhile a defining date has not yet been given.

Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti has said that for his participation in the invitation meeting in Brussels, he will decide after receiving information about the situation of three police officers kidnapped by Serbian forces.

I've been looking for the meeting for the week I went, but it's been told that I should de-scalulate the situation and then we had the kidnapping of three of our police officers in Leposaviq, so the crossing went up and only later I was invited to a next meeting in Brussels that I'm not sure it's meant exactly on June 22nd or 23rd because of different messages, Kurti said.

On the other hand, Serbian President Aleksandar Vuciq has said he expects the mayors of municipalities in the north to resign and special units Kosovo Special Police Units to withdraw from northern Kosovo.

According to him, by then he does not want to meet and talk with Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurtin in Brussels.

We'll take the decisions ourselves, not consult anyone. We have no obligation to anyone else. As for dialogue, it is completely meaningless”, Vuciq stressed.

Despite such statements that there will not be a meeting on the part of the Serbian president, political analyst Arton Demhaja has told Telegrafi that the Kosovo dialogue has stalled in some form, however, according to him the meeting between Kurti and Vuciqi is made for overcoming the situation in the north.

The dialogue in some form has stalled. We are talking about a possible meeting between two states with EU mediators to overcome the current situation in the north, and in terms of arresting the three arrested policemen, we are no longer talking about dialogue, but about a meeting of how to overcome this” situation, he has indicated to Telegrafi.

Demhasey estimates that there is no alternative other than meeting and overcoming this situation in the north.

I think the most likely meeting could happen soon, between the two leaders because there is no alternative other than meeting and overcoming this situation that is currently in the north. Several times in such cases we have seen such claims by Vuciki that he does not participate in the meeting, but in most cases he has attended. We're not talking about a simple situation that's been going a long way and could be running even more”, he said.

Analyst Demhasaj considers that it does not meet either side.

Therefore, it doesn't allow either party to meet, because if they don't accept an appointment they'll be blamed for situations that may happen. So I don't think there might be” rejection, he stressed.

Demhaja in the given statement said the current situation in the north does not coincide with Kosovo, adding further that, according to him, the country will most likely go to extraordinary elections.

That dialogue is the only solution is political analyst Dritaro Arifi.

He in a pronouncement for Telegrafi, said the situation in the north could be decompressed with dialogue.

“Dialogue is the only solution to any problem, and not to talk about the problem we have in northern Kosovo, where the situation is very tense, so dialogue will distract the situation and remember that we have three kidnapped police officers in Serbia. It would be important for Kosovo police to be released as soon as possible, and this should be done through dialogue, as Kosovo has no other option for kidnapped officers”, he said.

Arifi said Kosovo should always be ready for dialogue.

“What Serbia did to us shouldn't be too confusing. Our actions should be a framework of laws, but also co-operation with the US and the EU. For others in relation to Serbia responsible is the European Union, but from our perspective we should always be willing to dialogue for the benefit of citizens”, he said.

Otherwise, the situation in the north was tense after four Albanian candidates won the northern municipalities. Local Serbs opposed them trying to violently enter municipal facilities.

During tension with the situation Serbs attacked KFOR soldiers, police and media teams, where many were injured.

Days ago, Serbian forces even arrested three Kosovo police officers, they were sent to custody for 30 days.

KFOR and Kosovo Police continue to have increased presence in municipalities: Northern Mitrovica, Zubin Potok, Leposaviq and Zvecan.
