Prime Minister Albin Kurti has reacted after the tragic event in Pec, where his mother and son died as a result of the floods.

Kurti said the Government is committed to its “capabilities with the Kosovo Security Force and Emergency Management Agency” to help in the “to cope with and overcome the impacts of the flows”.

With deep sorrow, I received news of the tragic loss of lives of our two citizens, Dion Ademiaj and Mirsada Ademiaj, from last night's flooding in Pec”, Kurti wrote in a Facebook post.

This huge loss for the Adejaj and Hodzic families is a big loss for our country. In these difficult days, we share pain with family members and friends”, he added.

Kurti on behalf of the government has expressed condolences, while the injured have wished them quick healing.

The government of the Republic of Kosovo is committed to its capacities with the Kosovo Security Force and Emergency Management Agency to help deal with and overcome the impacts of the floods. Defence Minister Armend Mehaj, Minister of Internal Affairs Jedal Svecla and Minister of Management of Local Power Elbert Krasniqi are in communication with the Pec municipality to co-ordinate actions in offering necessary support”, Kurti wrote.
