New elections in the north, inevitable

But one of the new mayors in northern municipalities, at least one of the options does not lead to the mind.

While he is continuing his work regularly from an alternative object, Zubin Potok's chairman, Imer Zeqiri, does not find it reasonable to resign.

The legal paths must be found, there is no resignation, nor do we think about it. The legal route must be found for resignation. I don't see the resignation as reasonable without any legal reasons. We have to find out legally since there is a legal way that even the president mentioned, but it's a longer time for I don't know, must be found, otherwise we have no reason to resign”, Zeqi says.

But the new elections, which is also one of three international demands for de-exceting the situation in the north, are seen as inevitable.

Analyst Artan Mujaziri says the new elections from the start have been the most realistic option.

There is no logic to be governed for a long time with a violated legitimacy and that way surrounded by police. Thus, a time has been lost, but it is now expected because of intense international pressures to speed up the steps. There are some institutional possibilities that can be done with petitions or resignations, but as long as elections in the north are inevitable”, Mujadir declares.

The petition form, besides the president, has been cited as option as well as by Prime Minister Albin Kurti.

While according to analyst Wisar Xani, before elections are held, the country must have a strategy.

The “should not be the template, only to organise elections without an idea and a strategy how to realise those elections, what after the elections, and how the way these elections should be made, so it is more important for Kosovo to continue co-ordinating with the EU and the United States, to enable and find a legal breakthrough”, Xani says.

In the meantime, in addition to Leposaviqi, the other three municipalities led by Kosovo parties' candidates have continued working on the functionality of directors so that services can be offered to citizens.
