Silvio Berlusconi's coffin arrived in the cathedral in Milan shortly after 1500, and the car in which his body was transported was followed by a long column.
Present at the cathedral were 2300 officials who have arrived for the last farewell of the Italian politician.
Flags were lowered to half the spear and family members, including children and former Italian prime minister's wife, sat in the first row of the cathedral.
In addition to local officials, farewell to the Italians has gone to the country's president, Bajram Begaj, Prime Minister Edi Rama, officials from Brussels, as well as Iraqi president, Qatar's Emir and Hungary's prime minister, Viktor Orban.
Also at the funeral of the former prime minister were the presidents of Interi, Naples and Lazio, while the square is “seized” by Milan's most ardent fans, who carry flags in their hands.
Before the arrival of the coffin in the cathedral, Berlusconi was conveyed from the villa to the Arcora, where a large number of citizens had gathered.
