Today, groups advanced the maximum of 130 meters... The fierce fighting is continuing, but groups are continuing to advance”, Prigozhin said in an audio message published on social networks.
Because of the preliminary data, we're starting to get ammo. We haven't seen [still] in practice”.
Ukrainian forces were confined to an area of some 2,36 square miles [2,36 sq km] in the city, said Pgozhin.
Bahmut has been under Russian attack for more than nine months, with the Wagner group leading the repeated efforts to advance to what was once a city of 70,000 people.
Ukrainian commanders have pledged to maintain control of the city despite Russian efforts to take it on time for the May 9th Victory Day holiday, marking the defeat of Nazi Germany.
Prygozy last week threatened to withdraw his forces if he did not receive the necessary ammunition, but then withdrew the threat. / REL
