Senator Chris Murphy, after meeting with Prime Minister Albin Kurti, said this is the last year when Kosovo and Serbia must implement the agreement and achieve mutual recognition.
He added that he is pleased that the Government of Kosovo is fighting corruption.
It's the second time I'm here, I'll try every spring to come with my colleagues. We're here in the region for a week, it's not coincidence that we first stopped here because we don't have any friends here. You helped us manage the withdrawal from Afghanistan, you were with us in Ukraine. You're committed to fighting corruption and rule of law in your mandate, so you've had an economic growth and foreign investment here. Thank you for pledging to fight corruption”.
“We are pleased for the agreement you have reached with Serbia. I know this has to do with some difficult choices for both sides. Serbia must stop not hindering Kosovo from membership in international organisations. We think it is understandable that Serb majority municipalities have some opportunity to co-ordinate the services they offer. Time is of great importance, it is the year when this issue should be carried out and the movement towards normalisation can be enabled, which will send bilateral recognition”, he said.
And Senator Gary Peters has said that Kosovo is the first that wherever there are incidents it is willing to co-operate with the US Army, EO reports.
“Sic was mentioned we have a huge Albanian community, they love their homeland and come to invest here and I have had a meeting with members of that community. What is happening with Serbia, which we are encouraged by the agreement that has been reached and implementation is one of the main issues that can enable it”.
“As far as armed service relations are concerned, we have excellent relations with Kosovo, whatever incident happens you are the first to raise hands to co-operate with the US Army. We will continue to strengthen this relationship further”, he said. /EO/
