Power continues charges against Prosecutor in defence of Nagip Krasniqi

The government continues to be indignant at the arrest of Kosovo Energy Corporation chief Nagip Krasniqi. Deputy Prime Minister Besnik Bislimi said he was arrested only because he brought in 107m euros in profits to KEK. “
Deputy Prime Minister Besnik Bislimi said he was arrested only because he brought in 107m euros in profits to KEK.
“We think there's a lot of corruption in KEK”, Bislimi said during reporting to the parliamentary Commission for Integration, adding that cases of corrupt management current “has been deposited in the Prosecutor”.
But there is no political interest in an institution that I would say is political, as is the prosecution to deal with these cases. But it has only the interest to deal with the manager's case, which from a company that worked with losses, has brought the company 107m euros in profits. This was Nagip Krasniqi's sin for which he had to be arrested”, Bislim said.
“How can a public company generate 107m euros and none of them end up in politicians' pockets. This is a big problem, so someone else has to come after him, who changes the mode of management”, the deputy prime minister added.
He said the money made by KEK would go to the state budget, not “on luxury yachts of politicians”. That, according to him, is the reason for Krasniqi's arrest.
Nagip Krasniqi was arrested on April 19th on the orders of the Special Prosecutor under suspicion of abuse of position, influence exercise and conflict of interest. A special unit of investigations has raided his office and two residences in Pristina.
The Appeals Court recently rejected the KEK's suspended chief-in-chief's complaint, deciding to give power to the Pristina Foundation Court's decision to keep him in custody.
