The case of Peter Shala, the judge rebuked the witness: You are giving different answers from the questions that are being asked

Mapie Veldt-Tholia, the judge in the case of former Kosovo Liberation Army chief Peter Shala, who is being charged by Kosovo's Specialised Chambers in The Hague for War Crimes, has told witness number ten to answer concrete questions on the prosecution, rather than give further answers. Veldt-Vollia has asked the witness if [...]
Veldt-Vollia has asked the witness if there is any translation problems, because according to her, the witness who was declared a member of the KLA is not answering the questions of the Specialised Prosecutor's Office on Environments and the organisation of an improvised KLA prison.
I'm asking you this question because sometimes, in response to the questions being asked, you give a different answer than the question to be asked. So try to answer the question. Please, listen carefully to the question and ask questions”, the judge said.
On Monday, hearing the testimony of the 10th witness against former KLA member Peter Shala, known as Commander “Ujku”, has begun. The Special Prosecution Office, to interview the witness, has asked for three hours. This testimony will be heard in three sessions of 1 hour and 30 minutes.
Prosecutors have filed four counts of war crimes against Shala, including charges of torture and murder. They have claimed that Shala was part of a criminal group that has arrested and mistreated at least 18 people, whom they considered colborationists.
Shala, who is accused by the Prosecutor's Office of running an improvised prison where people were allegedly mistreated and one killed at the start of his trial at The Hague, said all charges against him are fabricated.
In his statement before the court, former commander of The KLA, said it had fought against a military machine of a criminal regime like that of Slobodan Milosevic, but never against civilians.
Shala was arrested on March 16, 2021 by Belgian authorities as his transfer to Kosovo's Specialised Chambers took place on April 15, 2021. The trial against him began on 21 February, while specialised prosecutors and the protection of the victims submitted the opening statements.
He is charged with crimes committed between May 17th and June 5, 1999, against persons who were held in the metal factory in Kukes, allegedly under KLA control.
