Montana becomes the first American state to ban the use of TikTok app

In the implementation of yesterday's act, offering the Tik Tok app by Google and Apple companies to users living in Montana will constitute legal violations. The ban goes into effect on January 1st of 2024 and in case of violations, such as Tik Tok and Google and Apple companies can face fines of up to $10,000 a day.
The TikTok appliance is used by more than 150 million Americans, but a growing number of lawmakers and state officials are calling for its ban throughout the United States amid concerns about the possible influence of the Chinese government on this platform.
TikTok, who is owned by the Chinese company ByteDance, through a statement said the legal act violates the First Amendment to the American Constitution for Free Speech, adding that the platform “will protect the rights of its users inside and outside Montana state.
Earlier the company has dismissed allegations of sharing its users' data with the Chinese government and has stated that it would not be required.
