The group “Action ViervierTel” says everyone has the right to participate and anyone living in the country should be able to participate in society and be recognised as a full member of the community.
He stresses that 2 million in Switzerland are unable to vote, Swiss media write, records albinfo.ch.
The initiative says every child born to Swiss resident parents should receive a passport automatically and those living in Switzerland for five years and have basic knowledge of a national language must also qualify.
Parliament has repeatedly rejected calls to make naturalisation easier.
