Dates for the oath of elected mayors of three northern municipalities are expected to be set by the end of the week. The Ministry of Management and Local Powers has said they are awaiting proposals by the mayors.
By the end of the week, dates for the next sessions and the oath of mayors are expected to be made public. Minister Krasniqi has had regular meetings with the four elected mayors and are in co-ordination for necessary preparations and legal deadlines, as set forth by law”, the Ministry of Management and Local Powers' response to RTK.
About this issue, PDK parliamentary group chief Abelard Tahiri has spoken on Monday, who said the oath of new mayors in Zvecan, Zubin Potok and Leposaviq should not be improvised, but the ministry and security institutions should create conditions for maintaining these hearings in the constitutional order.
While the party's organising secretary, Betim Djoshi, has reacted to the government on Sunday, saying the two mayors from the PDK ranks, who have won in Zvecan and Zubin Potok, are facing pressure and humiliation by government officials.
However, allegations of pressure have not been commented on by MAPL officials.
Of the four mayors elected on April 23rd, only the one in northern Mitrovica, Erden Attic, has been sworn in. While Izmir Zeqiri, Lulzim Hetemi and Ilir Peci have until May 28th to give the oath, they otherwise lose their mandate.
The elections in the North were held on April 23rd, as results were certified on April 28th, as May 28th set as the deadline for the oath.
