CEC monitors elections in Albania, partial electronic vote focus, vote count

The Central Election Commission (KQZ) will observe the May 14th local elections in Albania. A delegation of the CEC of Kosovo, in which members of this institution and a staff from the secretariat, will look closely to implement technology in Albania's election process, separately to identify and vote [...]
CEC spokesman Valmir Elezi says the survey is within the good co-operation the election institutions have in both countries.
Our two institutions have extremely good co-operation, and elections are a good opportunity to take a close look at the organisation of this election process in another country. In addition to various meetings to be held on the part of the CEC prior to election day, members of the CEC will stay at a large number of polling stations in different municipalities to look closely at the electoral process taking place in these municipalities”, he says.
Elez emphasises that the main goal is to exchange election experiences between Kosovo and Albania.
He adds that during this survey, greater attention will be paid to partial electronic voting in 401 polling of the Elbasan, Kamuz and Vora municipalities, as well as to count the votes held at Election Management Area Commissions.
“Of course how every phase of the election process matters to the CEC, but since observation is limited in just a few days, attention will be paid to the application of technology in the election process. In this case, in terms of electronic voting in three different municipalities, as well as electronic voter identification. Also, at the centre of this CEC survey is the process of counting out post-election ballots in separate spaces. Then the process to compile the final results”, he points out.
The Republic of Kosovo, thanks to the implementation of technology, manages to publish the preliminary election results just hours after the voting process ends at the polls, and enables citizens to change their polling centre over the telephone.
Local elections in Albania will be held tomorrow ( Sunday) on May 14th. The CEC has observed elections in Albania in the past as well. /Kp
