Alibeaj said that the party's reshuffle should take place, to secede from Berisha.
The 14 May elections, of course, had serious problems: pressure on administration, strong use, oligarch use, electronic system malfunctioning, and so on. First of all, though, we must look to ourselves. We must seriously analyze the effects of the Democratic Party's division on the outcome of the elections. We need to assess the work done on the ground well by party structures, the application of everyone, the contribution of everyone, to understand what went wrong and what went well. He said Alibeaj.
“in sign of reflection and accountability, I have decided to leave the party's leadership and also from the leadership position in the parliamentary group. The party must be reshuffled capillaryly, on the basis of democratic principles, as I constantly stressed during the election campaign. The party must have new rules, new principles, to separate itself from the former beast and to build an alliance with potential for 2025.”, he added.
Enkeleed Alibeaj's statement:
For more than a year, I have been the leader of the Democratic Party. At its most difficult time.
When has the survival of the party brought to Albania been questioned. The survival of the Albanian rightist party. The survival of the Western and Euro-Atlantic party.
The proportional figures show that the Democratic Party managed to overcome this challenge, survived and can now look towards the future.
The May 14th elections brought a monomism of power -- Rama held almost all municipalities that he had taken four years earlier without opponents.
A year ago, when I waited in office for Sali Berisha, I told him that the most at the helm, the Democrats have no chance of coming to power. That's why I couldn't follow him. That's why I didn't follow and chose the path of endurance.
In this case, I want to express my consideration and gratitude to all those Democrats who decided the fate of our party, our political family, ahead of narrow and mediocre accounts and markets. In times of distress, it takes people with strong character. You've witnessed this.

We will have to understand how to speak not only to the Democrats but also to those citizens disappointed by the politics of 30 years, who make up the silent majority in the country.
This, however, cannot be done by a single human, even by the leader.
I'm leaving to pave the way for a political party direction, at this stage that lays the foundation for the future.
It has been a decision of headship that decided that the leadership position would be held until after the local elections. By the time the elections are over, I am moving out of the direction and will continue to exercise my duty and responsibility towards the Democrats, as deputy chairman and part of the Democratic Party's leadership.
This year I've led the party we've had some achievements that I'm proud of. We have not allowed the Democratic Party to be undone. We have not allowed the Democratic Party to head east. We have not allowed the Democratic Party to go down the blind road to anti-Americanism.
We have also learned to speak freely. We've learned to tell the truth. We have understood that the DP must be right, should be democratic, should be Euro-Atlantic.
Because it was born, and this is our mission.
