Jakup Krasniqi's defence: He was just a spokesman, not involved in military operations.

“Z. Krasniqi was not mentioned in the 2011 Council of Europe report as suspected of any criminal responsibility”, she said in the opening statement in the trial. “has never been arrested for crimes”, Alagedra stressed.

The fact that some documents were found in Krasniqi's apartment, the lawyer said it does not make them authorial.

“Procurory seems to have become part of the propaganda against KLA”, Alagedra said, among other things.

She said Krasniqi's arrest was “trination also for the people of Kosovo”, which she said had recognised him differently.

According to her, the prosecution made “6 fatal errors”, in relation to charges against Jakup Krasniqi.

The first “abim is that the prosecution misunderstands or deliberately misrepresents Mr. Krasniqi”, she pointed out, insisting that he was “just spokesman”.

“Z. The judge, we all know what the spokesman and his limitations are. The spokesmen are not involved in operational military issues. Their role is contact and public relations. This, Your Honor, was exactly the role that Mr. Krasniqi at the time”, attorney Alagedra said.

She warned that witnesses who will stand up against Krasniqi would say “only gossip” about Krasniqi's role in the war.

There is no evidence, she said, that Krasniqi was deputy commander.

In the opening statement of the trial, special prosecutors said they had found materials that they claimed Krasniqi was deputy commander. They claimed Krasniqi had the authority to give orders to the commanders of the zones and other KLA members for the arrest and release of people.
