The indictment is registered on April 7th, and the indictment's target is for the concession dispute for the Durres Port.
Since 2013, this company has owned the right to concessionary contract to operate Eastern Terminal in the Port of Durres for loading and unloading ships. In the indictment against the Albanian state, the German company opposes the new port transformation project, which would cause this company to shift its operation to the new port in Porto Romano. But according to Germans in the absence of the new port, continued concessionary activity is not safe.
The company still has about 25 years remaining in the 35-year contract, while its profits in 2021 account for about 1.3m euros. Based on this profit, even the demand for compensation from this new trial in arbitration may amount to up to several tens of millions of euros.
At that, it was taught that before Arbitrazhi was directed, EMS had sent a letter to representatives of the Albanian government, the Assembly and diplomatic representatives of Germany and the EU in Albania, expressing its concerns about the transfer of the port of Durres.
