Zelensky said he sent <x0 direct messages” through diplomatic channels to the Chinese leader Xi Jinping that he wanted to meet with him, but received no answers.
I didn't get a proposal from China to mediate. I didn't get a proposal to meet”, he said.
Zelensky also voiced scepticism for China's 12-point proposal calling for a ceasefire and peace negotiations, saying that “respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity” should be the first.
China has so far refused to condemn Russia's aggression, reports Skynews.
Beijing's 12-point plan requires all sides to respect the sovereignty of all nations, to protect nuclear facilities, facilitate grain exports, protect civilians and prisoners of war.
However, the proposal also calls for abandoning the <x0mmentality of the Cold War” and “halting unilateral sanctions”, rhetoric often used by Beijing to criticise the Western response to the war.
