“was a terrorist act” Top Channel issues statement after the Kalashnikov attack

Top Channel issued a statement after last night's tragedy.

This television's main headquarters was attacked last night with firearms as the guard of the facility was killed.

This is the Top Channel statement on the case:

In the early hours of today's morning, Monday, March 27, 2023, Top Channel has been hit by a terrorist attack, never before located in 32 years of building rule of law and free speech.

The follow-up of this attack was the loss of the life of security worker, Paul Kola, who has been in charge of duty, part of the security society staff “entry”.

At 00.40, the late Paul Kola was found in the center of the hail with 25 bullets heading towards the Top Channel building.

The loss of family life, of the father of the husband, Paul Kola, in the line of duty is the shock and greatest blow to Top Channel.

We comfort the people of Kola with deep sorrow, standing by them in the face of their misfortune.

Also, Top Channel expresses the clarity that this unprecedented terrorist act has been committed to undermine and crack down on the free media mission and power of free speech.

Top Channel, established, created with the human spirit that built not only the idea of an Albanian media of Western value, but, above all, of a media represented by the large group of prominent professionals, public figures and intellectuals, that every day in an unstopable television broadcast and not only serve the public with full dedication.

The terrorist attacks of this kind clearly show how important the free word is to worry about the underminers of democracy.

On behalf of the highest task we have served, Top Channel will continue to inherit and carry out its free speech mission to the Albanian public and society.

In the name of this mission, Top Channel is looking for and expects the complete dawning of the event by law enforcement agencies.

Bringing this act should be a priority for law enforcement agencies, because a Top Channel employee has been killed, but it is also an assassination to television that has served transparency and law support by contributing information and awareness and empowerment of rights institutions for Albanian society.

This terrorist act is unprecedented to a national media, linked only to its free speech mission.

Top Channel, his family shareholders, directors, journalists and authors have never and never been the target of an individual attack since his establishment, everything in this terrorist act, is linked and only to the Top Channel mission.

This unprecedented crime and terrorist act immediately calls for responsible and harsh response from State Police and justice institutions to put the perpetrators in charge of the assassination.
